2014 Pantone Quilt Challenge: Radiant Orchid – Open for Entries

2014 Pantone Quilt Challenge: Radiant Orchid – Open for Entries

orchidbutton1

The 2014 Pantone Quilt Challenge is open for entries!  You can link up here or over at On The Windy Side - the linky runs across both blogs so it doesn’t make a difference where you link up.

Before you link up, check out the rules, our wonderful sponsors and our amazing judges.

Rules:

All items must be started in 2014 to be eligible

1. There will be 3 categories:

- Minis: Shortest side under 30″. Pillows, table runners, place mats, mug rugs, etc. will count as minis.

- Quilts: any size from baby to bed (shortest side must be at least 30″).

- Just the Top: any size from baby to bed (shortest side must be at least 30″).

2. This is the Radiant Orchid Quilt Challenge, so your project must contain at least some Radiant Orchid or similar purple. You can also use any other colours or neutrals you like (and as many as you like). That said, we would like to see Radiant Orchid as the feature colour of your quilt and we will be asking the judges to take your use of Radiant Orchid into account when making their decision.

3. You can submit one entry per category. Entries for quilts and minis should be completed projects, including quilting and binding.

Random Winners
We would really really love to see an entry from absolutely everyone who feels the slightest bit inspired by Radiant Orchid, regardless of skill level, so an entry in each category that hasn’t already won a prize will be drawn at random, and will win one of: a $25 gift voucher from Sew me a Song, a $25 gift voucher from Polka Dot Tea or a $25 gift voucher from Pink Chalk Fabrics.

Viewer’s Choice
We also think it’s more fun when everyone gets to participate, so we will also run a viewer’s choice award where everyone can vote on their favourite creation!  The winner will receive this amazing Radiant Orchid inspired bundle from Fabricworm.

Judges:

We are delighted to have three fantastic guest judges on board.  These ladies are seriously talented quilters, designers and authors.  We love their work and know they’ll do a fantastic job when it comes to judging your entries!

    • I am too! It’s so exciting seeing the links start showing up. :D

  2. omg, already THOROUGHLY BLOWN AWAY – every one AMAZING & LOVELY!!!

    • So much purple awesomeness! :D I’m loving it. :)

  3. Woohooo!!! Let the piecing begin ;)

    • HAhahah You are so insane, I love it! I am looking forward to seeing Koi!

  4. Eek! I’m not ready!!! Must finish sewing!!

    • You’ve got until Friday, go go go! :D You got this!

  5. hey, Anne, I did get a ‘slightly’ better photo to post – you want to delete my original and I’ll post the new, or???

    • If you want the new photo to show up, then yes, delete and re-post! :)

      • don’t know how to delete #2…but was able to add the new one nonetheless (:

        • not giving me the trash can to delete on the one i need to. i had the option on the 2nd one, deleted it thinking then i might have the option to delete the first one, but even tho 2nd is gone, still don’t get the delete option on the 1st. so sorry, grrr! ):

          • Sorry for the frustration!
We got this figured out privately, but I wanted to put this here in case someone else ran into this issue.
First off, if you can’t delete something, let us know and we can delete it for you! :)
However, you should be able to delete your own entries, but you do need to do it from the computer/device that you initially linked from. That’s how the link app identifies who you are. If you are trying that and still running into trouble, just send myself or Adrianne an email, and we will take care of it for you.

            Thanks everyone!

  6. This was my first Link up. For Mini Quilts Entry 35 is replaced with number 35 (full picture). Sorry for any confusion.

  7. Hi Anne, thanks for hosting such an awesome challenge!! I am loving all the quilty goodness…lots of great projects linked up already. Can’t wait see what else gets linked!

    • Thanks so much, Kelly. :D You’re so sweet! I will add you to the spreadsheet, for sure! :D

  8. Choosing winners is going to be hard. The winners certainly have earned their prizes.

    • Yah, I’m really glad that job isn’t mine. :) There’s a lot of amazing entries! :D

  9. Hi, this is the first linky I’ve ever participated in, and I don’t know how to vote. When I mouse over “You can cast your vote” Internet Explorer gives me the little pointed-finger hand that’s supposed to mean I can click through to some kind of link, but when I click nothing happens. I don’t want to vote in the full-sized category, of course, since my own quilt is entered there, but I’d love to choose a favorite among all those delicious minis and tops.

    • Hi there! You should see hearts in the upper right corner of the images. If you click on one of them, you are voting for that quilt. Once you’ve voted for something in a category, you can’t change your vote, so vote carefully. :)
      I hope that helps!
Also, please feel free to vote for your own quilt!

  10. How long is voting open?

    • Voting is open until Thursday night. We’ve extended it due to the high number of entries and wanting to give votes and judges more time to look at the entries. :)

  11. I can’t see the one I wanted to vote for. Was it just certain entries that were up for viewers choice?

    • All the entries should be available for voting. Did you check all three categories for it? I’m sorry you’re not seeing the one you wanted to vote for! Feel free to let me know which one in particular you were looking for in an email and I’ll see if I can track down where it is/where it went. :)

  12. Bummer, I don’t have twitter. Great quilts.

    • You don’t need twitter to vote, that blurb is just there in case you want to post about it on twitter. To vote, just click the grey heart over your favorite entry! You can vote for one entry per category, and unfortunately you can’t change your vote once it’s cast, so choose carefully!

  13. Wow, there are some seriously amazing entries!! Thanks for hosting the challenge, it’s been fun to watch everyone working on their projects.

    • Yes! I am in awe of all the beautiful work people managed to create. :D

  14. Although I did not participate… I sure have enjoyed seeing and reading sew many of those who have. It is hard to choose one fave from each category! They are all spectacular!

    • I had a hard time as well! There are so many gorgeous entries, and I truly wish we could give a prize to everyone. :)

I love comments, and respond to each one!
