I’m missing WIP Wednesday this week because I have nothing that I’ve really worked on. Which means it’s probably a good time to do some goal setting!
A while ago (I’m not putting a more specific time frame on that) my friend/colleague/housemate got married, and I said I’d make her a quilt. She picked a pattern and colors and I got fabric and that’s about as far as I’ve gotten. Part of it is that her tastes are different than mine, and I admit some trouble getting into it, but really it’s just become The Quilt that I keep avoiding because I’m so behind on it. So no more. It’s April, and her name is April, and therefore it’s her month. (She’s going to be so happy when she reads this!)
This month, my goal is to turn this pile of fabric into their cut pieces. And maybe make a block or two, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I have all the red cut, so now I just need to cut the white and black bits. I can do this.
Linking up to A Lovely Year of Finishes!

One of my all time favorite quilts that I’ve ever seen was made with these very colors. April’s quilt will be very dynamic and impressive. I can’t wait to see it.
Definitely dramatic! 😀 I am looking forward to having the cutting done because it’s so many pieces that it’s fairly overwhelming. If I see you guys before it’s done, I’ll be sure to show you the progress in person. 🙂
you can doooooo ittttt!!!!
Did I mention the 1800 1.5″ squares I need to cut out? No? Oh. That’s after the previous 1100 I’ve already cut out.
Yeah finish this up so we don’t have to hear about it anymore. geeze. Also, great post on photographing quilts. Everything I know about color I learned in the Magic School Bus episode on light.
lol be thankful you don’t live near me! Then you’d have to hear about it even more. 😀
I totally need to go watch that magic school bus episode. I wonder if youtube has it..
Look at all that batik – you’ll have to text-bomb it. oh and remember to respect the rotary with all of your cutting 🙂
OMG You’re brilliant!! I am so going to find a way to do that. And see, I told you I owned batik fabric! lol
Rotary cutter: yes, definitely. I’m going to put in a new blade and order some more because I know I’m going to go through a few. And sharp rotaries are safer than slightly dull ones, right? It’s like kitchen knives?
You can do it!
Just think of how wonderful you’ll feel once you’ve gotten everything cut.
You’re totally right! I’m going to use that to motivate myself through this step. 😀
