In December 2011, my friend and housemate got married. Their colors were black, white and red. I had been quilting for three months, and I told her that I was going to make her a wedding quilt. I knew it should be black, white and red, and that she loved batiks. She picked a pattern and I started collecting fabric.
Over a year later, and I hadn’t even cut out the pieces for this thing. So cutting the pieces became my goal for the month. Over 3000 pieces later, and it’s all done! Man it feels good to have that over with. It didn’t even take that long once I started working on it. The pieces are all bagged according to size so they don’t get mixed up.
Next up, 64 of these blocks (this is just laid out, not sewn). This is the most traditional and precise thing I’ve worked on to date. I admit, I’m a little intimidated.
