I’ve shown some sneak peaks of my Sew Sew Modern 5 swap items, but didn’t want to show the full package until my partner received them.
Well my partner, Deanna @ Little D and Me, received them so we’re good to go! Sew Sew Modern is a swap of one larger item and a coordinating smaller item. Coordinating can mean whatever you want it to mean, though.
Deanna requested a mini-quilt with a saying on it for her daughter’s room. I spent a lot of time looking at sayings and asking friends with kids what sayings would be appropriate (and short enough to put on a quilt) and in the end the first idea won out, “You are my sunshine.” The lettering uses the “My First Alphabet” pattern by From Blank Pages…, available on Craftsy.
I loved that song as a kid! (Okay I still love that song. I totally sing it to my pets when no one else is home. At least, until Kita bites me because she’s kinda overly critical of my singing.) So it seemed like a good choice.
(BTW, does anyone know what that main backing fabric is? I bought it ages ago but it was a FQ without a selvage.)
For the small item, I found a photo of a dandelion embroidery hoop project in my partner’s flickr favorites, and I really loved it. I did a google search for others like it and designed this one. There were a few bumps along the way, but in the end I really love how it came out.
As for me? I totally scored! The person who had me was Allison @ Allison Sews, and she made me the most awesome super tote and zippy pouch!
I’ve used this bag a few times and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it. 🙂 I am sort of tempted each time to say I made it, but so far I’ve resisted. 😉
And the little pouch is just awesomely cute! Love the little fish zipper pull.
So therein ends another round of Sew Sew Modern. I know I say this every time, but I really need to sit out the next round. Christmas season is fast approaching and it’s always nuts around here during that time! But it’s hard to say no when you get to exchange such fun things like this!
