It’s the beginning of April, somehow, which means it’s time to look back at what got accomplished in March. I generally enjoy doing these wrap-ups because I go into them thinking I haven’t gotten very much done, but then as I review, I realize I was pretty busy!
So here’s the look at March.
Friends + Fabric Swap Blocks – The blocks this month were these cute sprout blocks in different colors (tutorial by traceyjay). I was in charge of blue and green. These are super simple to make, and I love the way they look all together!
Storage Revamp – One of the major projects this month was reworking the storage solution in the guest/craft room. It started with buying a new storage unit and ended with a lot of ironing and folding. But the results were SO worth it! You can read tons of details about this project here.
Tote swap – Our guild had a tote swap which was super fun! I love the tote I got, and I had a lot of fun making the tote for my partner.
Handstitched class quilt – This was the big project of the month, and it felt great to have this done! There is still the hand quilting to do over the course of the next few months, but I have no plans to rush through that.
Heather Ross drawing challenge – On March 6th, Heather Ross posted a challenge: Draw every day until April 1st. The reasoning behind this was to show that drawing can be learned like anything else, and all it takes is practice (like anything else). This is something I strongly believe in as well, and something I teach in my design classes. It’s not talent that makes someone great at something, it’s just a whole lotta practice. I’ve been wanting to improve my drawing skills for a while, and drawing every day is something I’ve wanted to try, so this was just the push I needed. I made these comparison images to show some of the progression, and I plan to continue drawing, if not every day, most days.
And that brings us to the end of March! I’m interested to see what April brings, now that I don’t have such all-encompassing projects on my plate.
Linking up to Lily’s Quilts Fresh Sewing Day. It’s always fun to go through the links and see what others have accomplished!
