Pantone Quilt Top

As you might know by now, the Pantone Quilt Challenge link-up starts this Friday and runs for a week. Adrianne and I aren’t allowed to enter, but we couldn’t let you all have all the fun!

I made this design based on a modification I made to a woven chevron block originally created by Alyssa @ Pile o’ Fabric for her Skill Builder 2013 sampler. I liked the modification and decided to try it out Β repeated as a quilt.

Karen @ CapitolaQuilter is the smart cookie who suggested that instead of dealing with all of those HSTs and QSTs, I should instead build the quilt on the diagonal. Genius!

Once I figured out a good system so that my rows didn’t get all messed up when I was sewing them, this went together very quickly. It’s a great stash buster, too. Each of the zig zag stripes used up an entire fat quarter.

wovenchevronipThe “radiant orchid” in this quilt is a Kaffe shot cotton. I use scare quotes because it’s not actually Radiant Orchid, but I figure it’s close enough.

I have no idea what to do for the back or quilting, any suggestions?

Oh, and check out what Adrianne @ On The Windy Side did for her Pantone quilt! Guess Kaffe got involved for both of us. πŸ™‚

Linking up to Lee @ Freshly Pieced’s WIP Wednesday!
