Pantone Spring Colors 2014

First off, thank you to everyone who helped me with my artist block last week! Of course, just as I was starting to feel comfortable with a little aimless creating, I received the information I needed to start on the quilts I’m making for Christmas. I’m hoping to sneak in some time with my other less-focused projects, though.

In the meantime, a couple of weeks ago, Pantone released their Spring 2014 Fashion Color Report. I have the fashion sense of … well, a programmer, and generally live in t-shirt and jeans, but I still love these color reports! I love the whole color of the year thing (and I still think navy blue was robbed last year!) and just love everything to do with color in general.

There’s a few colors I’m pretty excited will be showing up more next year. That seafoam green (Hemlock), the coral (Cayenne), and the Dazzling Blue are all great, but so are the supporting colors. Tule by Leah DuncanΒ incorporates a lot of the brighter colors already, and I’m sure we’ll see more of these colors in 2014. I used the Palette Builder to get the closest Kona colors, shown above. Looks like their next color release should include a lighter coral color!

Fabrics: L to R
Timeless Treasures – Crosshatch Sketch in Sky
Dear Stella – Zig Zag in Lilac
Leah Duncan – Floras Oasis in Naranja
Zoe Pearn – Merry Scallop in Gray
Bo Bunny – Firewood in Brown
Angela Walters – Lineage in Terra
Steffie Brocoli – Branches in Yellow
Sheri McCulley Studio – Cruiser Signs in Red
Joel Dewberry – Ornate Floral in Amber
Michael Miller – Stitch Square in Orange
Heather Bailey – Butterfly Dot in Orchid
Marin Sutton – Moby Main in Blue

But until then, here are some of the fabrics I found that are available now to match the colors. As usual, purple is hard to find. With two purples being featured, maybe the purple hate will start to dwindle. It deserves some attention!

Are there any colors you’re looking forward to on this list? Or do you think Pantone has it all wrong?
