It’s Friday, yay! I’m hoping to get some sewing done today. I had to take a break after the Amish-inspired quilt, but I’m ready for my next project now. Heaven forbid I finish something else, I am of course starting something new.
But in the meantime, here’s some Quilt Design A Day designs!
Carrot stars! I wanted to try an all-ver repeated block design, since it’d been quite some time since I’d done one. This is made up of the same blocks, but one is colored slightly differently to create the yellow star.
Continuing my love of plaid/argyle and layered effects! The design on the left is where my design started. You can see how I will often start complex and then start simplifying. I have a tendency to over-design which doesn’t seem to be going away!
There were some really interesting designs in the QDAD group involving using the same shape at different scales. That’s not something I play around with much, so I gave it a go. I think it might be a bit of a psychological test as to whether you see the bigger flower hugging the smaller flower or eating it…
This design was mainly playing around with foreground and background interactions. I originally did it with two colors but added more to break away from my tendency to only use two colors.
This uses the same shape as the day before, but with a different layout to give a totally different feel.
This is a very abstract shooting star design (they’re rising up instead of falling down because it seemed happier) based on the starry sky look of the geode.
I think this was day #1432107 in a row of having a flower as the design seed photo. I wasn’t terribly inspired, so I added quilting lines to make it look like I had done something interesting with the design.
And that wraps up another week! I hope you all have a creative weekend!
