Our guild participated in the QuiltCon Charity Quilt, and it truly was a group effort! The design itself was a collaborative effort, the quilt top was created by a group of us, one person quilted it, a different person made the back, another person made the label and sleeve, and yet another person did the binding! It truly is amazing to see all these people come together to make such a cool project.
Karen (aka CapitolaQuilter) and I decided to do a photo shoot with the finished quilt today. It’s a gorgeous day here in Santa Cruz, and it was fun finding different locations to take the pictures. Unfortunately, it was incredibly windy, so we didn’t get as many fabulous shots as we would have liked. However, we did get a lot of fun shots of the charity quilt as well as our madrona road challenge quilts.
There are more pictures available on flickr, but here are a few of my favorites.
The QuiltCon charity quilt on a tree-lined path that leads to our monarch grove at Natural Bridges State Beach.

My Madrona Road challenge quilt, “Streams of Consciousness” on campus at UC Santa Cruz. The campus is settled in a redwood forest.
Did I mention it was windy? Karen was such a trooper!! This is the view from the UC Santa Cruz campus overlooking the town. You can also see the ocean and Monterey from this overlook.
We are so fortunate to live in such a gorgeous area! It was really great to hit some of the well known hot spots in town. š

Ok I know you said the MRQC quilt was 3×4 feet but I didn’t realize how big of a paper piecing endeavor that was until I saw someone holding it up. The charity quilt looks amazing.
Hahahaha! Well it was cut into pieces, so each arc was only about 2′ long. But still a lot less convenient to work with than the typical paper piecing I’ve done!
We were given such fun blocks on the charity quilt! I hope whomever ends up with it enjoys it. š
Awesome photo shoot. š What a perfect locale for No Sense of Direction!! love it.
We had a lot of fun, just wish the wind would have died down!!
So I actually got Karen’s quilt name wrong. She has ANOTHER Madrona Road challenge quilt named No Inherent Sense of Direction. This one is called Driving in Circles. Which okay, also fair given how much of that we did looking for places to take photos! lol
