Oooh, I can’ wait to see how this turns out! Love that the cats will share the couch with the dog — not at my house!
All the boxes are cut now, and it is definitely a lot more chaotic than with just the boxes! lol
The cats put up with the dog until she rolls on her back and starts running in her sleep. They know better than to stick around when that happens! 😉
I get most of my sewing done at 5:30 am when my 4-year-old gets me up and during any magical moment he and the 2-year-old are getting along and playing nicely. Usually a couple hours a day.
I dream of a weekend that I get left to myself to sew. But generally weekends are not good sewing time.
If I had a family, I would totally spend the weekend with them as well! Way better than sewing. 😀
Although I’m not sure I could manage getting up at 5:30am for pretty much anything! 😉
Those blocks look great I cant wait to see it come together. I’d love to just snuggle up like your doggie, lol. I work all weekend but i’m hoping to finish catching up on my swap commitments
If you’re ever in Santa Cruz, let me know, Mishka is a great snuggler! 😀 Well, once she calms down from meeting someone new, anyway.
Best of luck with your swap commitments! I always feel like I’m in danger of falling behind on those, myself!
Hey Anne,
I sew on weekends. And if soemone is so mean as to invite me to an event on the weekend I resent the loss of sewing time. Why go to a party, when I could be home with my machine….
But serious, I find that when I get home at night it’s late and I’m tired, adn I haven’t got any thoughts left for measuring or counting or being in anyway precise. And I just want to sit. And maybe eat. And I oftern look at my sewing and then give it up for tomorrow night and before I know it the weekend is here and I can actually sew!!
Your house looks peaceful, today. So a perfect place to sew 🙂
E xx
Oh wow, I thought I was the only one like that. lol I get very guarded about my weekend time! Not just for sewing, but for catching up on all the things. And I do really resent people wanting to do stuff on weekends, don’t they know that’s the time to get stuff done?! 😉 And my weeknights seem to sound a lot like yours as well!
Don’t let those cats fool you. The second the sewing machine comes out, they’re all over it.
That’s going to be gorgeous. I still haven’t found the low vol quilt I was telling you about … but yours is going to work out just fine. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Oh darn, if you find it, please do send me the link, I’m really intrigued! I’ve finished cutting my blocks and putting them together, and it’s definitely more chaotic than the straight boxes were! 😉 It doesn’t look so low volume anymore, either. lol I’m getting excited about seeing it done, though!
my weekends vary, depending on whether the kids are with me or their dad. When they are with him I usually slob around and knit or do some hand-stitching while watching Judge Judy episodes from about 2002 (we are a little behind in the UK!). This weekend, however, I am catching up on the work I didn’t do last week because I was slobbing around on the couch watching Judge Judy. Ahem.
Hahahahaaha I dunno, that sounds pretty awesome to me! Except that here in the US, we watch the backlog of BBC shows that are finally making their ways over here. So it goes.
I really need to figure out a setup so that I can watch shows while I’m sewing. It gets awfully weird in my head when it’s just me and the sewing machine! (Well okay, it’s always weird in my head, but with a show on, it generally drowns it out. 😉
the rest of the family has a pretty sweet idea lol… but sew I must, as I get most done on the weekends 🙂
The rest of the fam is MUCH better at planning their weekend than I am. I keep shoving stuff into it instead of keeping it free like they do! 😉 I go back and forth. Sometimes I get more done during the week, and sometimes I get more done on weekends. This is heavily influenced by what Eli has planned for HIS weekend. 😉
you’re so brave to take a blade to those blocks – it’s going to be great. I sew in burst regardless of what the calendar says.
I finished cutting up all the blocks, and I really like the look of the quarter blocks. Some of the blocks I wasn’t so fond of actually work really well as smaller units! Of course, now I’m trying to get used to seeing them together in their more chaotic format. 🙂 I’m planning to finish the top at the retreat!
I’m not sure you EVER stop sewing! You’re definitely an inspiration!
I knew they would be awesome, but yowza! Really, really awesome! Cut! Cut! Cut!
Hahaha You rock, thank you! The blocks are now all cut!! I’m really excited about seeing this top come together! It’s funny because it felt like drudgery putting all those blocks together, and this is the first time in a LONG time I’ve been excited about working on it. Maybe I should have brought out the rotary blade a lot sooner. 😉
Ooooo… Your cut up blocks are certainly looking promising! Looking forward to seeing your progress, Anne. I get more sewing done during the week, when the family is busy with school and work. Sweet pic of your fur family lazing about!
Thanks Lorna! 😀 I probably won’t post any more progress until after our guild retreat in a couple of weeks. I’m trying to do block building so I can bust out tops when I have more space to play with. 🙂
I think I generally get more done during the week than on the weekend, but if I get a day alone on the weekend, it’s full steam ahead!
I sew whenever I get the chance. We farm raise cows, corn, hay, and chickens. So i just squeeze in a few moments whenevr I can. love your babies on the sofa!

I am always in awe that you get any sewing done when I read your blog! 😀 I need to get better at that, I always feel like “well if I don’t have X amount of time, it’s not worth starting.” but that’s really quite false! So much can get done with just 5-15 minutes a day. 🙂
Don’t you find it hard to cut up perfectly good blocks??? I do, even if it is making some awesome pattern:) I did the same this weekend. Making a double slice pattern and almost couldn’t cut them in half…but I did it anyway. Can’t wait to see what you do with them!
It is a lot harder than I expected! Of course that might be partly because it took me a year and a half to make all these blocks. 😉 But now that they’re cut up, I’m actually super excited, because I’m SO close to having the quilt top done now!
Of course, I need to figure out what to do for the back…
