I’ve continued with my project ADD, making little bits of progress on multiple things.
I’ve finished my Sew Sew Modern 4 swap items and mailed them out, so I should be able to share them with you next week. I’m pretty flippin’ excited for my partner to receive their items!
I started sewing together the blocks for my woven chevron quilt. It turns out that having a design wall that’s too small so you just shove the middle bits in there ends up with sewing mistakes like this here. Instead of weaving around each other, they seem to have formed a knot in the lower right corner with the architextures print. I need to sit down and sort out what needs to be ripped and re-sewn. It’s sort of akin to untangling embroidery floss or yarn, but more in my head than physical, and my brain balks every time I think about it. Β Note to self: Get a bigger design wall.
I also started my Woodland Sampler cross-stitch now that my linen arrived. Isn’t it cute?!?! Haha. I started this, made the top border of the frame and was so proud I’d totally remembered my cross-stitch techniques. Then went to work on the left border and realized I’d made my top border 20 stitches too short. Ahhh yes. I totally remember cross-stitch now!
I have one of my hands in a brace because of tendonitis which is slowing everything down (including my typing! Sorry for the slow email responses. Well, slower than usual.) but I’m starting to get back up to speed. Hopefully I’ll be able to make some real progress on the woven chevron quilt this weekend! Unless of course some other shiny comes along.

oh anne, tendonitis SUCKS & takes forever to heal – DEFINITELY do what the doc tells you or you could be in pain for a long time (i had tendonitis in my elbow after a FEW DAYS of construction work on a job – scraping – and it took almost a year to be “gone” – but the same motion will make it flare up and scare the bejesus out of me.) take care of it so you can sew in comfort and peace!! healing energy to you!!! (:
oh, and sorry your sewing this week is being so frustrating, too. ): i’m with you – my Broncos lost the Super Bowl (big), it’s been below zero for days & the roads have been baaad, i turned another year older (actually a GREAT think i know) – i’m ready for a new, great week!! (:
Happy birthday, Jody! π I hear that getting older should be embraced and celebrated! π
As for a fresh, new week…I don’t want to complain, but I think I’m ready for a new month. LOL
I’m keeping the stupid brace on, don’t you worry! Two weeks with it! And then a doctor appt to get further instructions.
Oh man, that sucks that you had tendonitis in your elbow for so long! (although I originally typod tendonitits which would be even worse, I bet…) As soon as the brace went on, it felt tons better. Now when I take it off for showers, I notice the pad of my palm isn’t sore anymore like it has been for um.. a while. So I’m hopeful it’ll be all good! π
What?!! Nothing seems to be going your way this week! Sorry to see your wrist is giving you trouble. And hope it heals up quickly! Have a restful weekend!
Thanks Lorna! π The brace made it feel better right away, so I’m sure it’s going to heal up fine. π As for that troublesome woven chevron… Now it’s just making me stubborn. lol I will not let it prevail!!
Poor thing. I hope it’ll all get better for you.
Thanks, Vera! After some good quality sewing time this weekend, things are definitely looking better! π
Oh no! That woven chevron pattern is so cool it’ll be worth it. However, it does hurt my head to think about how exactly it works. Maybe sit down with publisher and make it help you?
I finally brought my computer and put it next to the design wall so I could sort the whole thing out. lol I did get it sorted, and after sewing things together wrong 3 more times, updated the design wall to match the right side of the quilt. It probably shouldn’t have taken 3 times for that to happen…. π
Too big, too small, yes I know the goldilocks feeling all too well. Glad you’ve got your armor – soldier on!
Hahaha I love it, “armor”. π Since I almost always wear black, most of the time the brace looks like I’m wearing some sort of sports glove. But only on one hand. At that point, it’s almost a fashion statement, right? π
yikes, I hope you hand is better soon. The quilt is looking good.
Thanks, Leanne! π
The brace made my hand feel instantly better, so I’m sure it’ll heal up. I have to wear the brace for two weeks, but in the grand scheme of things, that’s not too bad!
Loving the cross stitch, and your woven quilt will be so cool when it is done. Have you consider acupuncture for your tendinitis? I can get a referral from my BIL for a local acupuncturist if you are interested.
Thanks Amoreena! I’m excited for where the woven chevron quilt is heading. π I kinda wish I’d used a different background fabric, but I’m not sure what would have worked.
I hadn’t considered acupuncture! The brace actually made all the pain go away, but I have to keep wearing the brace for 2 weeks anyway. If it flares up again, I’ll look into acupuncture. I’d love some recs, especially if they’re in Blue Shield’s network.
