Finished
Another finish this week! This took up more time than expected (doesn’t it always?) so I didn’t get much else done this week. However, Nyan cat is completed! I gifted it to my professor on Monday, and he hung it in his office. π You can read all about it and see loads more pictures on the post here.
In Progress
I’ve made some more progress on the PicStitch Blog Hop project. The link party ends tomorrow, so I’m trying to get as much done as possible before I link it. π I have one more rosette to add before I will feel like I have successfully represented the colors from my palette. (I ignored the dusty purple because I couldn’t find any fabrics to match.) Palette created with our palette builder tool, and the photo is one I took of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
No Progress:
Mod Pop: Still waiting for inspiration to hit about the back.
April & Kerry’s Quilt: I hate cutting.
Sew, Sew Modern: This is filtering up to the top of the list, will likely make progress next week.
Low Volume Improv Log Cabin: No time for this until after the holidays probably.
Linking up to Freshly Pieced linky party, which is being guest hosted by Elizabeth of OPQuilt this week!

Wow great quilt! And I just went and tried your palette builder tool, fantastic!
Yay, I’m glad you got a chance to try the palette builder tool! π I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to look at that quilt and not laugh, but I don’t consider that a bad thing. π
Love the Nyan Cat quilt – so fun. Your EPP is looking wonderful too.
Thank you! It was a really fun quilt to put together, it’s not often you get to giggle your way through a quilting project. π The EPP is coming together slowly, but surely. Hopefully it’ll end up like I see it in my head!
Love the hexagons! The cat quilt is great too.
Thank you! They are both time-consuming projects, but they’re both a lot of fun!
Your Nyan Cat Quilt is Awesome Awesome!! I hope your professor appreciated how much work that was. If he doesn’t, I will gladly take it off his hands π
HAhahaha My professor has a mother-in-law who quilts, so it turns out he did appreciate how much work it was! We spent about an hour chatting about it after I gave it to him, and he asked me things about the machine quilting, the binding, etc. It was really gratifying. π And he hung it up in his office, and showed the nyan cat video to some passing professors who happened by when we were taking photos. The whole thing was really awesome. π
Your cat quilt is amazing–I hope your professor enjoys your handiwork!
I think the palette builder tool is a really good way to work out the colors to use in a quilt, or in any project. My Dad is my own personal palette builder, as he’s an artist. But when he’s not around, I plan to use the link you provided.
Thanks for stopping by Freshly Pieced today and posting your WIP link.

I’m fortunate, in that my professor really did appreciate the quilt and how much work went into it. π
Your dad sounds like a fantastic resource! I love building palettes on my own, but sometimes it’s nice to have a starting point or something to work past creative blocks. π Thanks for stopping by and for hosting the WIP link party!
