WIP Wednesday

WIP Wednesday

This week is flying by! My birthday is this weekend (I’m turning 25 for the 13th time, lucky 13!) and so we’re going to be doing a giveaway this Friday in honor of it. Be sure to stop by for a chance to win some pretty fat quarters!

But for today, let’s take a look at where things are!

Finished:

Lucky Stars BOM – January blocks finished! I’m doing two of each block at the 6.5″ size, each on different dark blues, and plan to scatter them across a patchwork dark blue background.

Progress Made:

Sew, Sew Modern - I have the batting now (finally, d’oh) and some perle no 8 to give hand-quilting a try on the pillow cover. All supplies are on hand, now I just need to finish it up! I’ve also started working on the smaller item (the swap is for two items) and have been making hexies like crazy.

hexies2

Friends + Fabric Bee - Finished one of the blocks. These are super fast, so shouldn’t be a problem to get them done, just need to find some fabric!

wonkycross

QuiltCon Charity Quilt - Our guild is participating in the charity quilt using quiltcon challenge blocks. The deadline is pretty tight, and I had signed up to help construct the top. We finished the top at our sew day. Yay!

No Progress:

Madrona Road Challenge Quilt – I have batting, so I am no longer stuck on that at least. I just need to get some time and space to baste it.
Tote Swap – Not due til March, so will likely start then.
April & Kerry’s quilt – No progress.
Quilt for me! – Thought I’d be working on this at Sew Day, but instead ended up working on the quiltcon top and making hexies.
NuBees Quilt - Just haven’t been feeling this one, so it’s a bit backburnered.

Linking up to Freshly Pieced for the WIP link party! It’s always so much fun to see the lovely things people are working on!

  1. Wow, Anne, what gorgeous, gorgeous projects. I can’t pick a favourite as they are all so wonderful! Loving your plan for the Lucky Stars. Will no doubt look stunning. Can’t wait to watch your progress on that one. :)

    • Thank you Erin!! I really appreciate your compliments. :D As for the Lucky Stars, I really hope I have the technical ability to match the vision I have in my head. I always hate when there’s a disconnect there…lol

  2. So many lovelies! Your star blocks look fantastic, as does the quilt top!

But I especially love those hexies in the rainbow and bordered with black. Gorgeous!

    • Thanks Kristy! I need to figure out what I’m going to do with those hexies…I kind of want them to have a straight border, so it’s a hexie stripe, but not entirely sure how one accomplishes such a thing. Oh well, probably google will know! ;)

  3. I love the black and white hexagons. and the wonky crosses. Visiting from WIP Wednesday

    • Thank you! I’ve been having a lot of fun with hexies lately. And those crosses were such a nice break from all that paper piecing!

  4. Wow Anne, so many great projects! Your star blocks look so great – I am doing this BOM as well but haven’t started yet. I love the idea of bright stars scattered across a dark background. Your hexy projects looks fab as well – I see lots of precious fabrics in there!

    • Thank you! :D I can’t wait to see what you do with the BOM blocks! :D It’s going to be such a pretty quilt.
My partner really loves Heather Ross, so I bought a scrap bag of Heather Ross on etsy for fairly cheap. Perfect for hexies!

  5. My, what a beautiful energy, keep going, beautiful work!

    • You’re so sweet, thank you! I have a lot to get done this month, but I think I’m on track to finish in time! :D

  6. Love those rainbow hexies – the black/white surrounding is simply gorgeous!

    • Thanks so much! It wasn’t I originally had intended, but then the 1″ hexies are also bigger than I was expecting, so my original idea wouldn’t have worked anyway. :)

  7. LOVE those hexies. Congrats on those star blocks. They are so pretty. All of these projects are eye candy.

    • Thank you!! The hexies went a different direction than originally planned, but I think I like them better than the original plan anyway. :D The star blocks are super fun to make! I’m really enjoying the BOM club so far. :)

  8. Im totally in love with your colors for the lucky stars BOM – i still have mine to do
also those wonderful bright colored hexies

    hugs

    • Thank you!! I was worried when I went fairly literal with the star block colors, but I threw in some pink and it all felt better somehow. lol The blocks come together fairly quickly, I look forward to seeing what you do with them! :D

  9. All wonderful projects. I LOVE the stars.

    • Thanks so much! They were super fast to put together, especially since the instructions for the BOM club includes piece sizes so you can precut your pieces. :)

  10. I love all your WIPs. The hexies and the friends and fabric bee block are my favorite. :)

    • Thank you! :D I’m a little addicted to paper-piecing in all its forms lately, so the wonky cross block was such a nice break from it all!

  11. Holla at yo fellow January baby!!! Happy early birthday Anne! I am really liking the navy vs bright oranges/pinks on your lucky stars. Is this the one with don’t call me betsy? ciao!

    • Of course we share a birthday month! *high five* Thanks for the birthday wishes!! I think I’m going to the chocolate festival on Saturday which, really, is so kind that they have it every year near my birthday. ;)
Yep, the pieced stars are the January block from the Don’t Call Me Betsy BOM club. It’s been a lot of fun, you should join in if you haven’t already! It’s pretty fast so far…y’know…after one month. Totally enough data to make that call.

    • Thanks Alyssa! I am trying not to get overwhelmed by how much I have left to do!!

  12. Such a gorgeous collection of work! I’m particularly in love with those hexagons! :)

    • Thanks so much! I’ve just recently started doing EPP, but I have to admit I’m seriously addicted already. :D

  13. How do you always manage to be first on the WIP link?

    • LOL I’m not ALWAYS first. Being on the West Coast means that it often goes up at around 10p our time. :) So it’s super easy to just wander over and check if the link is up!

      • And by “wander over” I mean, start checking obsessively if it’s up at around 10p our time.

  14. I love your hexies. The rainbow of colours looks so striking against the blacks and a I love text prints!

    • Aww, thank you!! I am a huge nut for text prints, too! Sooo many good ones these days!

  15. I LOVE your hexies! So pretty!
& the QuiltCon quilt is gorgeous!

    • Thank you!! We got such a gorgeous set of QuiltCon blocks! They did a great job of sending out blocks that went well together. :)

  16. Great job on everything! You are incredibly productive. I was drawn in by the picture of the hexies, but I really love the low volume crosses and the assembled to, too! Way to go :)

    • Thank you! I am not feeling very productive right now, given the amount of things I need to get done before the month is over! :O Next month I will not overcommit myself. Next month I will not overcommit myself. Next month… If I keep repeating it, it might work! :)

  17. Love those hexies!! Gorgeous! And the low volume wonky crosses are lovely – that would be a fantastic quilt.

    • Thank you! My bee mate is the one who thought to ask for the low volume wonky crosses. I can’t wait to see how it comes out when it’s done! :D

  18. I love the hexagon project! Beautiful colors and such a modern look to it! I’m curious what the end result will look like!

    • Thank you so much! I’m…also curious to see what the end result will look like. lol I sort of went into this without a real plan other than “fussy cut heather ross hexies and some hexies using the fabric from the other project that goes with it.” Hahahaha I think I know what I’m going to do next, just not quite sure how to do it, but I’ll figure it out as I go. :)

  19. Such beautiful projects! I especially love your hexies and your Quilt Con quilt. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )

    • Thanks Lee, and thanks so much for hosting it every week! :O I’ve been sewing hexies together today, so hopefully I can actually finish that project by next week. :)
