WIP Wednesday
This is going to be a very short WIP Wednesday! I have been focused on just one project for the last week, and I have to admit it’s not my preferred method. Turns out I get a little creative-style stir crazy unless I have a few projects to bounce between. Hopefully this week I’ll be able to get some progress done on those other projects!
Progress

Handstitched Modern Medallion - I finished the last satin stitched bit on this, and man did that feel good! There are still two more rounds to go on this, but they are less time consuming…I hope! (Please note, the picture shows one jewel unfinished, but it’s just because I haven’t had time to take a picture of it all done.)
No Progress:
Skill-Builder BOM – Still need to quilt my blocks.
April & Kerry’s Quilt - Cutting out all the pieces is one of my goals for February.
Tote Swap - Will probably get to this after QuiltCon! (OMG QUILTCON is next week)
A Quilt for Me - Maybe in March?
NuBees Quilt - My February Lovely Year of Finishes goal, and not totally sure when this is going to get done anymore.
Linking to Freshly Pieced’s WIP Wednesday link party!

It looks great – and apparently didn’t take an eternity after all
It did take an eternity, it just felt like a normal passage of time to you! hahahaha
Noobie question. Does this already have batting or something on the back acting as a stabilizer or do you do the embellishments before?
Not a n00b question at all! This is done pre-batting, etc. which is what makes it embroidery instead of hand-quilting. I think. Also I’ve been told that embroidery floss does not work well with batting, so it’s best to do the embroidery bits before basting.
It looks great! I love your fabric choices. I started one for last year’s Curves class but I’m still at the same stages as you. It’s on my list to actually finish this year!
I’m afraid to get behind on the classwork because I know I’d never get up the motivation to start it again! I hope you finish yours! It seems like such a great quilt! Although I’m not quite sure what to do with it once it IS done.. haha!
Wow, your embroidery looks marvelous. Your jewels are perfect! Great job.
Thank you! I assure you they’re far from perfect, but a little distance is all it takes.
I’m pretty happy with how it came out, though!
I really like it. Can’t wait to see it finished.
Me either! I’m ready for a break from this project for a bit, though! Hahahaha Thanks so much for the kind words.
Your Modern Medallion is really looking great, can’t wait to see it finished!
Thank you!! I can’t wait for it to /be/ finished. HAhaha Not quite sure what I’m going to do with it once it’s done, though. I maybe should have considered that beforehand! It doesn’t seem very compatible with our in-house zoo..
It’s coming along. Great to see progress, isn’t it? My grandmother’s flower garden is a similar project – all that handwork makes for slow going, but hopefully an even more cherished project.
I am a little on the impatient side (understatement of the year
so the handwork is really tough for me because of its time scale. I think if I had a handworked project that was a side project, that I worked on here and there it would be fine. But because it was the only thing I worked on, I felt like I was in school again, waiting for the summer vacation! I’m so impressed by your grandmother’s flower garden!! It’s gorgeous and you’re making such wonderful progress on it.
