I have been feeling a little creatively spent the last couple of weeks, so I haven’t been really pushing myself to make things. However, I have made some progress this week!
Finished
Quilt Photography Tutorial – While not really sewing, it did take up a lot of time! I wrote up a quilt photography tutorial for the 2013 Finish-A-Long hosted by Leanne at She Can Quilt.
Progress
April & Kerry’s Quilt – I’ve started making progress on cutting fabric. Yay! Once I started, it wasn’t that bad. Not that I’m done yet. I’ll take a picture once it’s all done!
Charity Quilts – The Modern Quilt Guild I belong to (South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild) just started a charity group. We’re working towards making 31 quilts in 31 days for Jacob’s Heart. Jacob’s Heart is a local charity which supports children with cancer and their families. I drafted this pattern because I wanted something quick but interesting, and I chose green, yellow and orange fabrics to keep it gender neutral.
Sew Sew Modern 2 – I’ve been sketching ideas for the front panel of the Multi-tasker tote I’m making for my partner. Based on my partner’s favorites, I decided to do a feather theme. I created this feather motif which I’ll convert into a paper-piecing pattern and I’ll piece it into the panel. Hopefully my partner will like it!
That’s all for this week. Hopefully I’ll get some of my sewing mojo back soon!
Linking up with Lee @ Freshly Pieced and her WIP Wednesday linky!

love those feathers!
Thank you! I should probably work on making it a proper pattern instead of just a line drawing. Always more work! 🙂
I like the charity quilt–I like block within block as many times as fit. And the color choice is good. How many are in your charity group? sounds like a good project.
There are about 15 people in the group, so everyone is making 1-3 quilts. Totally doable! 😀 I worked the design around making the middle ring out of charm squares because I had a bunch I wanted to use up. 🙂
Love the quilt – great colour choices!
Thank you! I spent a lot of time figuring out what gender neutral colors I actually had in non-flowery fabrics. It’s a lot harder than I was expecting. I have enough fabric to make a bunch of girl quilts, though! lol
Those feathers really rock!
Thank you! 😀 I need to go about turning it into an actual pattern now, instead of just a line drawing, but I think it will actually be pretty straight forward. Here’s hoping anyway! 🙂
I love the charity quilt pattern. Simple but beautiful. I am inspired to give this pattern a go. Good luck with your 31 quilts!
Thank you so much! If I made one change, I’d make the smallest squares a bit bigger and the sashing a bit smaller. I have the measurements all written down if you’d like them. 🙂
Love your quilt. Being a person that refuses to grow up, I see a mega tic tac toe game opportunity here. Color coded bean bags[filled with stones instead of beans so they can be washed] for a wilder tossing game or pot holder type X and Os for a bed top game, and the quilt alone for cozy times. Just thinking…
That’s a really cute idea. 🙂 I have no idea what the age range is for the children, but I might find out if something like that would be appropriate. 🙂 Thanks for the great idea, mom!
Those angry birds are adorable and i love the quilt top. Totally out of my color comfort zone but it drew me in 🙂
They’re definitely not colors I generally work in, but getting away from low volume and navy (which seems to be what calls me lately) was a great exercise. 😀 The angry birds were really fun to put together! I got the pattern for the red angry bird here: http://www.fandominstitches.com/2011/05/comicsgamestech.html
The others were modifications to that pattern. 🙂
