Slowly making progress on some of my projects!
Jacob’s Heart Charity Quilt – Thanks to Karen @ CapitolaQuilter, I was able to get this quilt basted. So I finally faced my fears and gave free-motion quilting a go. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it IS done! I did a large stipple and only managed to break the needle once (when it somehow went into my FMQ foot) and the foot only fell off 3 times. Tension was great, though! I think it’s when I slow down too much and the pressure of moving the quilt drags the foot in the way of the needle. The times it fell off was because the foot got stitched into the quilting. It was…bizarre. After keeping it going fast, I had no more problems. Now I just need to figure out the binding!
Sew Sew Modern 2 – I finished the second paper-pieced feather for my partner’s multi-tasker tote. Penny @ sewtakeahike clued me into these clover fork pins, which really stabilizes paper-piecing and helps match up the seams.
That’s it for this week. Our monthly guild sew day is on Friday, and I’m hoping to get quite a bit done. Fingers crossed!
