Giveaway instructions are at the bottom!
Kim Andersson @ i adore pattern has created her first fabric line with Windham Fabrics, called Tidal Lace. I know Kim from the QDAD group on Facebook, and so when she emailed me with a chance to make something using her new line, I jumped at the chance!
Her fabric line is inspired by the shapes and colors of coastal tidal pools and the pattern and details of trim and lace that she grew up around in her grandmother’s ballet shop. The line artfully weaves these two concepts together in a really beautiful way!
When I sat down to design my project, I had just started the alien flora series of designs, and definitely wanted to play with something in that direction. I took inspiration from the starfish, which is always my favorite tidal pool find. I wanted a design that would be friendly for people who might be doing curved piecing for the first time and ended up with this star flower pillow design.
Because I suck at math (story of. my life.), this ended up being a 16″ pillow instead of an 18″ one because I didn’t ask for enough fabric. But regardless of that, I love this happy little pillow! I’ll be posting a tutorial for it in January, when the fabric is available. It uses the quarter circle templates by bettycrockerass, just like the other alien flora designs.
I chose to stick to the blue, blue-greens and yellows because those are the colors I think of when I think of my own coastal town. For the back I picked two of my favorite prints from the line.
And as I mentioned in the title, there’s a giveaway! Each stop on the blog hop (including this one) is giving away a FQ bundle of the full line, including the solids.
Here is the full list of blog participants if you’d like to enter each of their giveaways!
To enter, just leave a comment saying which is your favorite print. Giveaway ends on Tuesday, September 23rd at 6pm PDT. One winner will be chosen at random. International entries welcome. Good luck!
